significantly taller plants. Statistically similar LAI was observed at 500 and 1000 kg ha-1 lime rates in 2009, while
LAI was not significant in 2010. Similarly, the number of days to 50% tasselling was not significant in both
seasons. The variety effect on plant height and LAI was non significant in the first season. In the second season
however, Yellow Composite had significantly taller plants and higher leaf area index than Ashland variety (Table
3). In the second season also, Yellow composite took significantly longer number of days to attain fifty percent
tasselling than Ashland, compared to 2009 when there was no significant effect of variety.
