Breast cancer is one of the most common neoplastic pathology in females. Every year in Italy more than 47,000 new breast cancer cases are diagnosed. Thanks to a growing social sensitization of the problem,3 to the new diagnostic devices 4 – that allow an early diagnosis – and to the new therapeutic options a rising number of patients is successfully treated. Surgery is, for most of the patients, a forced step to face during treatment for breast cancer and the type of surgery 5 depends on the extension of the tumour itself.
