Staff who fail to follow company policy and procedures are placing their health at risk in addition to other staff and visitors to your workplace. This non- compliance must be dealt with promptly to ensure the chances of an incident or accident is minimised. The causes of this non-compliance can range from
a simple misunderstanding, a lack of training or, more seriously, a refusal to comply with policies and procedures. The action to take would vary according to the reasons for non-compliance.
In the case of a simple misunderstanding it might be just necessary to reinforce a certain aspect of the policies or procedures to the employee. If it is due to a lack of training obviously the employee would have to be trained or re-trained in the policies and procedures. In the case of an employee refusing to comply with policies or procedures, or ignoring warning signs, disciplinary action would be required.
