Chapter 1: Dimensions of Travel and Tourism
Chapter Summary
Travel technically only occurs on the various modes of transportation, whereas tourism reflects trips taken by travelers for all nonbusiness reasons, including recreation, curiosity, adventure, and culture. However, in this book, the term travel and tourism, taken together, refers to the totality of the entire industry incorporating all the travel modes—airlines, rail, motorcoach, rental car—and attractions and destinations as well as the users, the tourists and business travelers.
