(a) Effect of temperature
The effect of temperature on separation of Al was studied under
the conditions of leaching time 4 h, liquid/solid ratio 15:1 and no
agitation, and the results are shown in Fig. 2. It can be seen that the
recovery of Al increases significantly with an increase of temperature.
The recovery of Al is relatively low at room temperature
(25 C), and higher temperature (above 40 C) enhances conspicuously
separation of Al from PVC. In the case of 2.0 mol L1 HCl, the
recovery of Al is 40.0% at 25 C and rises up to 90.0% at 40 C. In
terms of 2.5 mol L1 HCl, the recovery of Al is up to 100% at 50 C,
implying that Al is separated completely from PVC. Considering the
cost and operability of leaching method, temperature of 40 C is the
best choice.
