Fruit yield (fresh weights) were measured yearly on 20 trees per
block and results expressed as kg ha−1 y−1.
Soil water content (w:w%) was measured gravimetrically during
2010 year on four occasions (early April, mid June, mid July
and mid September) in the in-row and inter-row in both treatments.
On each occasion, nine soil samples (10–40 cm depth) were
collected from the Lmng and Amng plots, sealed in plastic bags and
promptly transferred to the laboratory. Samples were immediately
weighed (FW) and dried at 110 ◦C for 48 h in a ventilated oven and
weighed again (DW). The w:w% water content was calculated as
100×(FW−DW)/DW.
