The behavioral decision making of artificial emotion in
artificial fish is conducted on the basis of understanding the
natural emotion mechanism. Currently the widely accepted
functions of artificial emotion mechanism are related to the
robot’s behavioral motivation and its assistive reasoning of
learning reinforcement signals. In robotic systems, the
functions of emotion are described in two aspects [6]. Firstly,
artificial emotion is the medium which connects both the
external environment and internal state of robots, which plays
an important part in the whole procedure of information
processing. Secondly, artificial emotion, together with external
environment, functions on robots’ learning process by way of
reinforcement. These theories and findings are the basis of this
research experiment in creating a more lifelike artificial fish.
This research also experiments with analyzing natural fish’s
emotional features before applying artificial emotions into the
behavioral decision making of artificial fish.
