Differences between the groups
The baseline data were analyzed for the total sample (n = 145). The participants’ ages ranged from 30 to 81 years,
with a mean of 64.4 years (SD = 9.9).The average number of years that the patients had suffered from diabetes was 5.8
(SD = 6.7).A total of 64.1% of the sample was female. Most of the participants were married (83.4%) and had less than a
primary school education (59.3%), while 84.1% of them never had been employed. Table 1 shows that no significant
difference was found between the intervention group and the control group in the baseline data.
