All regular fulltime employees as required by law, a leave of absence without pay is a period of time occurring within the curse of normal employment during which the company maintains the employment status of an employee absent from work for reason of “Education Leave” granted in order for employee to pursue additional higher learning.
1. Have complete at least three (3) years of regular employment
2. Plan to pursue a degree in a field of endeavor intended to qualify for a career with company with provided that both company work requirements permit and that the reason for the request is acceptable to the company.
3. Have completed at least one-half of the academic requirements for the degree. If qualified, an employee will be granted a leave for a maximum period of one school year, an extension of one additional school year will be considered upon written request.
4. If due to circumstances beyond employee control, the employee cannot return to work on the due date, he/she should apply to the company for an extension of leave of absence. In this situation, the employee may be required to provide written proof to substantiate the delay. Failure to produce satisfactory proof could result in disciplinary action.
5. The immediate supervisor or manager must approve leave of absence without pay.
6. Any employee who absents himself/herself from work without good cause and prior consent of the Management shall be regarded as having committed the offence of unauthorized absence and is liable for salary deduction and disciplinary action, which may lead to termination.
