Natalie Groves was forced to leave her home in New York two years ago because her parents were simply unfit to raise her. Both of her parents turned to alcohol after the miscarriage of their daughter. Natalie was taken away by police and she moved to Stratford, Ontario with a family friend, Mark. Although Mark is one of Stratford's greatest detectives, he hasn't got a clue of what is taking place in Natalie's life. Not only does she get into fights regularly and have no friends, but she hates her physical appearance more than anything in the world. Her naturally straight hair and striking green eyes don't seem to cut it for her. To take out her self hate, she self harms more often than not. Of course, the kids at school have no idea of this either. She keeps a hard exterior up so that no one dares to wonder if she's sad. Justin and his mother move in across the street and right away, Natalie thinks they are stuck up jerks just like the rest of the town. Little does she know, she's not the only one with a haunting past. But Justin seems to handle it differently than she does. Instead of being angry and rebellious, he is the exact opposite. Though he is quiet, he is one of the kindest people Natalie has ever known. Natalie refuses to let anyone in on her life, but what happens when Justin manages to sneak his way past her sturdy wall that took her years to build?
