at higher dose rates, ion irradiation can also
form similar types of defect clusters and dislocation loops in materials
under neutron irradiation, even though the number density
and size of defects observed is higher, due to the relatively shorter
irradiation time scales [11]. Thus, high dose, high flux ion irradiations
can be a useful tool to understand the basic mechanisms of radiation damage in structural materials. It is also worth mentioning
that there are many published studies on the ion irradiation
behavior of 316 SS, which focus on microstructural evolution [6–
10].
