Plant indicators are mainly used to describe natural ground vegetation types. As part of a board land classification system, these types include forests believed to have similar trends in productivity, regeneration and succession. This system is useful for stratifying variable forest areas, but in most cases there is little factual evidence about how closely these vegetation types describe forest site quality (Carmean, 1977). Indicator species are species that are used as ecological indicators of environmental conditions. In order to determine indicator species, the characteristic to be predicted is represented in the form of the classification of the site, which is compared to the patterns of the species found at the sites. Indicator species analysis should take into account the fact that species have different niche: If a species is related to the conditions prevailing in two or more group of site, an indicators analysis undertaken on individual groups of sites may fail to reveal this association (Caceres et al., 2010).
