Assembly VE—Value Engineered
The aggressively priced STEAMIX VE comprises a STEAMIX
Steam/Water Mixing Valve of brass/stainless steel (SS)
construction with optional nickel-plated finish (VES).
STEAMIX VE (VES) is supplied as standard with a 1/4 turn ball
valve for outlet flow control and a dual scale thermometer.
STEAMIX VE (VES) can be optionally accessorized using the
specification guide provided for use as either a base mixing unit (M)
or a complete wall-mounted hose station (H).
Mixing units are recommended for use as steam/water heaters
for use in various vessel filling, container “top off” barrel washing
and other similar applications or for use as a hose station when
a hose reel is desired.
Hose stations include a SS hose rack and are recommended for
single point of use steam/water washdown applications, and can be
supplied with/without a variety of hose colors and lengths, swivel
adapters and spray nozzles per the specification guide provided.
Safety
In the event of either a complete failure of the inlet cold water
supply or a reduction in cold water pressure to below 20 psi
(+/-5 psi) STEAMIX VE will respond with a complete shutdown
of outlet flow.
In the event of a structural failure of the primary operating
component (diaphragm), STEAMIX VE will “fail-safe” to cold water.
To prevent over-temperature selection by the user and the
potential for overheated water and flash steam presentation
common with other types of hose stations, STEAMIX VE is
supplied as standard with a single temperature lock-out feature.
A maximum temperature limiting option is also available.

Maximum 150 psi (10 bar)
Minimum 20 psi (1.4 bar)*
Inlet check valves strongly recommended; not supplied.
Shipping weights
VE-M = 32 lbs (15 kg)
VE-H = 39 lbs (17 kg)
VE-H-25 = 56 lbs (25 kg)
VE-H-50 = 66 lbs (30 kg)
VE-H-75 = 76 lbs (34 kg)
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Lower steam pressures significantly
reduce outlet flow rates. Consult flow grid or call factory
before making a selection.
Flow Rates
The capacity charts indicate STEAMIX VE flow rates at
steam and water pressures commonly available in the
average manufacturing plant. The STEAMIX VE can handle
a wide diversity of pressures and temperatures. Three typical
outlet temperatures shown in the flow tables were selected to
demonstrate the valve’s flow rate at:
A) “User safe” temperature (approx. 120°F–48°C)
B) “Hot hose down” temperature (approx. 150/160°F–65/71°C)
C) “Common bacteria kill” temperature (approx. 180°F–82°C)**
NOTE: All flow rates shown are with open outlet, and a reduction
of flow is to be expected depending on the length and diamete
