This photogenic square is located in the center of car free Hallstatt. It is one of the main attraction, the main drag of the town. The square itself has a statue of Holy Trinity in its center and the statue is surrounded by the newer multicolor houses.
Many people flock into this tiny town, some in tour buses too, just to stroll on this tiny village by lake Hallstatt. Since the center of the village is a pedestrian only street, people travel by car have to park their cars in one of the three designated public parkings. The walk to the center of the town is not far at all. If you visit this town, stroll along the Seestrasse all the way to Gosaumuhl strasse (or the other way around depends on from where you start). The marktplatz is the meeting point of the two streets and along the way, you will find many vantage points for Hallstatt's other postcard pictures.
