Biosorbent material
Papaya (Carica papaya) wood was obtained from the felled trunk of matured trees. The trunk was debarked, cut into small pieces (2 cm × 2 cm), soaked in boiling water for 30 min, thoroughly washed under tap water, and left for 2–3 h in distilled water, changed 3–4 times. The washed wood pieces were ground into fibers (diameter: 0.05–0.2 mm; length: 2.5 mm) and oven dried at 80 °C and used for biosorption studies.
