the machines we use don't last forever. what happens when we can't use them any longer currently, most of our waste electronic equipment goes straight into landfills. all this e-waste isn't good for the environment.
paul bonomini used waste equipment to make the weee man, a 23 ft high sculpture in england,to remind us that we must make less waste.
five fridges, 35 mobile phones, five sanwich toasters and four lawnmowers are part of the 3.3 tonne sculpture. computer mice are its teeth, vacuum cleaner tubes are its neck and an old washing machine is past of its spine.how can this sculpture change our behaviour
every one of us should try to make the world a better place. there are a number of things to do. we should try to maintain appliances for as long as possible. we shouldn't throw away old appliances if they are still in working condition. we can repair them, sell them or donate them. we should recycly parts which we can't repair.. there are companies that recycle old mobile phones. some companines will buy your old model to use for spare parts .
there are so many things we can do. so next time you want to upgrade or replace an old piece of equipment think of the weee man and and its message "we mustn't pollute our environment. our planet is our responsibility.
