The oil palm wastes have great potential to be
converted into useful products such as for fuel application, chemical production and as wood adhesive. The potential
energy that can be generated is up to 37.09 million tonnes of oil equivalent a year (MTOE/y). From pyrolysis
process, solid biomass and wastes can be converted to liquid products, char and gases. Among other methods of
pyrolysis, fast pyrolysis and microwave shows the most popular process for converting solid biomass to liquid
product and slow pyrolysis is best for producing char. However, microwave pyrolysis is more suitable for solid
biomass with high moisture content. The percentage of the product obtained is dependent on the method used.
