The
prewarmed blankets were positioned to cover the
hands of the GHT administrator completely, before the arrival of the phlebotomist at the bedside, so that
the phlebotomist was unaware of the experimental assignment
of the infant. This design eliminated the potential
that the presence of another person during
the GHT treatment, but not during no GHT, might affect
the phlebotomist’s technique during heel sampling
process.
