In fact, studying in a classroom is important. In the classroom, a teacher only teaches about theory, thinking process and basic of work. Which all students will get the knowledge as same as the others. The students will continue studying in different ways depending on the experiences of each person. I believe that the best learning is not always in the classroom, but it is to learn from the out-of-class experiences. When I have studied at the Faculty Of Architecture KMITL, It also makes me believe more because the teacher always says that the best knowledge is from the real-life situation. When we are assigned a new project, a teacher will guide or bring us to interesting places that good to be the example of architecture designing and we can use it to inspire our projects. That makes me love to travel around Thailand and foreign countries in order to see the real architecture, to learn a culture, a society and a way of life through our point of view, not on media point of view. It makes me realize that how big is the world and there are many things that we cannot learn from the classroom. That is a reason why I am interested in this exchange program. Japan is one of the countries that I alway dreams to go there. I would like to see it with my eyes. Is it the same as a traveling website, Japanese TV shows, the reviewer tell me or not?
Moreover, This exchange program is directly related the Faculty of Architecture. So, I think I can use the exchange program’s experience to develop my potential of learning and designing ideas.
I am very interested in Japanese Architecture. My favorite architect is Kengo Kuma. His work are Modern Architecture with a touch of Japan. His work is unique. Furthermore, Japanese Architecture Pattern is influenced and accepted on international designing. For example, Zen is background of minimalism, inside out outside in architecture is a focus designing linking exterior and interior to continue relation area. Khoji and Shoji use grid line to design a position of wall, door and window to make them balance.
And I want to present Thai Architecture that it is similar to Japanese Architecture Pattern because Thailand and Japan are located in the same area; Asia. An appearance architecture focuses on living with nature, being a part of nature. The design is related to nature in term of natural building material, Connect building with nature by inside out outside in, Grid line system is used for designing, layout plan is used for space planning. The example of Thai Architecture that similar to Japanese Architecture, Ruan Thai is planted a tree in the house and building is arranged to cluster by clearly divided public zone and private zone. Open space form is used inside out outside in and layout plan is a linear into grid line system. Although, The exterior building and surrounding are different with other regions, but it also has something similar.
However, these knowledge that I have learned about Japanese from reading a book and studying from the internet that is architecture, culture, society and way of life. If I get a chance to go there, I would like to learn and recognize with my eyes because I always believe that the best knowledge is to learn from the out-of-class experiences.
