In Augustof 1996, just ten months after my heart replacement,
my husband Crain and I begab to hike the trail leading to half Dome.
The trail began with a mind incline, which we eagerly took at a brisk pace.
I was winded at first, butas soon as my heart caugth up with me,I felf energized.
I tried to go as fast as the other hikers, but found it difficult to keep up.
The canypn had many steep slopes and deep stonestairs, allowong in very little sunlight,
which kept temperayures cool and therocks silppery.
