Inspected glass insulators were far more contaminated by
bird excrements and there were no assumptions drawn just
by visual observation about what type of contamination
flashover would be in majority (excrement deposition or
bird streamer). Viewed glass insulator strings had been in
operation for decades before retirement. Droppings’ effect
to cap erosion was also noticed (Fig. 5). Considerable
amount of traverse and/or conductor suspension clamps
corrosion remnants were spread on insulators.
