which is consistent to our results. These findings could be related to the basal pro-inflammatory state, low anti-oxidant reserve and inadequate insulin effect found among diabetic patients. Interestingly, a recent study has shown that a high-fat, high- carbohydrate meal decreased the DNA binding activity of antioxidant transcription factor Nrf-2 and expression of GST-1 and NQO-1, two important anti-oxidant enzymes, compared with resveratrol and polyphenols supplemented groups [20]. Although our results could not provide any direct evidence, these preliminary results propose further study regarding the role of TRX induction after food intake as a defense against oxidative stress and in association with the pathologic process of diabetes.
