Health professional education is a knowledge-intensive
undertaking and we are generating growing quantities of data
about teaching, learning, assessment, and outcomes through
the multitude of digital devices and systems we use. Big Data
and analytics are therefore important emerging topics for
health education learners, educators, administrators, and
education scholars. This article provides a critical review of
the potential of education analytics and Big Data in health
professional education and makes recommendations for how
these techniques can be developed to serve all of its
participants and stakeholders.
