Performance data
Currently, NSOs depend to a very large extent
on the state to acquire the necessary financial
resources enabling them to operate. The
objective data show the magnitude of this
resource dependence and the weakness in
generating resources from other sources of
supplies, namely the private sector (e.g.
sponsorships, donations, advertisements).
As variable 3 in Table 1 shows, 12 of the 20
NSOs investigated receive all of their required
monetary subsidies from the government.
Another seven organizations rely for at
least 95% of subsidies on their exchange with
the state. Only one organization has confined
the public subsidies to 70% of its total
budget.
