- This transformation is reversible, with calcium sulfate hemihydrate forming anhydrite by heating to ~200°C under normal atmospheric conditions.
- Anhydrite has also been used as a source of sulfur in the production of sulfuric acid.
- It is also used along with gypsum to produce plaster, wallboard and other products for the construction industry.
