In the year 1964, the ardent fans of James Bond were given a well-deserved treat in the form of ‘Goldfinger’, the James Bond movie that brought the legendary Sir Sean Connery as the legendary British secret agent, 007 against the devious Auric Goldfinger. However, the most stunning highlight of the movie was the Aston Martin DB5 which became one of the most astounding cars to be used by James Bond. In the month of October 2010, the same iconic Aston Martin DB5 made headlines when it was sold by RM Auctions for a mind blowing $4.1 million. Hailed as the most expensive movie prop sold at auctions, the DB5 was powered by a 4.9 liter inline 6 engine that produced 282 bhp and propelled this luxury vintage car to a top speed of 145 mph. Furthermore, the power plant was tethered to a F 5-speed all-synchromesh manual transmission that enabled the Aston Martin DB5 to achieve an acceleration of 0–60 mph in 7.1 seconds. For the James Bond movie, the Aston Martin was heavily modified with the inclusion of an ejector seat, machine guns, rotating license plates among other accessories necessary for a spy with a reputation that of James Bond.
