The dynamics of N and pH in the soil and
floodwater may be
affected by agricultural practices (e.g., N fertilization,
flooding
regime, cropping system) and by different climatic scenarios (e.g.,
co-elevation of temperature and [CO2]). Changing from aerobic to
anaerobic conditions in paddy
fields may lead to variations in pH,
Eh and other soil attributes such as the availability of nutrients
(Morales and Ferreiro, 2009). In general, temporal changes in these
parameters have not been generally addressed in paddy soils. In
the present experiment, some chemical changes in the soil and
floodwater were investigated during the two consecutive rice
seasons.
