Researcher compares results of “Communication Strategies in English Speaking Skills ofthe Fourth Year English Major in Special Program of Kasetsart University KamphaengSaen Campus” and “The Effects of Teaching Communication Strategies to Thai Learnersof English” by Tiwaporn Kongsom. Her results of study students were pause fillers and hesitation devices, followed by circumlocution, appeal for help, clarification request and confirmation checks. The least useful communication strategies were message abandonment, followed by foreignizing, code switching, word coinage and topic avoidance. It should be noted that there was a correlation between what they perceived as useful and what they actually used (as reported on the results of communication strategies use). In addition, the results of previous research Wongsawang (2001), Wannaruk(2002),Weerarak (2003) and Pornpibul (2005) the results it similar to the proposed taxonomy in her study.(Cited inTiwapornKongsom, 2009) That consistent with this research students were Clarification request similar previous research and Approximation just slightly differentand the communication strategies Topic avoided, Message abandonment, Literal translation and Foreignizng that the least useful similar Tiwaporn Kongsom.
