The fuel system
Three things are needed for combustion: air, spark and fuel.
Fuel is normally contained in fuel tanks located in the wings of aircraft. From there it passes through fuel lines to the carburetor on the engine.
In the carburetor the fuel is mixed with air to become a highly combustible mixture. From there it is fed to the cylinders through the intake valves. Fuel injection is also used on aircraft engines.
FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Over time, an engine’s performance can slowly diminish because of buildup, which clogs vital parts of the fuel system and causes reduced fuel efficiency and power.
