We consider a multihop wireless network comprising of identical nodes that use IEEE 802.11 DCF for medium access.
Each node is equipped with a single radio transceiver and all nodes use the same radio channel, although the throughput analysis presented can be applied to networks using multiple radio channels as explained later.
Although IEEE 802.11 physical layer specifications such as IEEE 802.11a/b/g support multiple transmission rates, the transmission rate used is assumed to be homogeneous across the network in this paper.
