for they will be able to take up these examples as guides for them to follow and practise. So the stories of these Acariyas and others can be of value to many people far into the future. In the same way as all of us who have depended on the many Acariyas and other people who have maintained the tradition of practice through past ages and up to the present day. Then they may be able to open their eyes and ears, enough not to be always vainly gazing, infatuated with the body of the human being, who should still be clever enough to have the sati and pañña to save themselves, both in the way of the world and Dhamma.
