In this paper, we demonstrated that it is possible to detect
black hole attacks on wireless sensor networks using an IDS
based on an expert system. We detailed the architecture of
such a system, which we call ADIOS, and suggested ways
of reducing its resource consumption so that it would be able
to function properly in a resource-constrained environment.
Using simulations, we demonstrated that we can leverage the
fact that multiple nodes are on a network to reduce the burden
of processing, memory and battery life on each node while still
maintaining the ability to detect attacks timely and accurately
