Story Frames. The activity was designed to help readers organize their ideas about
what they have read by completing a story frame. The categories included 1) plot and
suspense, 2) characters and relationships, 3) major themes, 4) methods writer uses to
communicate his/her attitudes, 5) reader's response (Murdoch, 1992). They made
students being aware of the relationship between the reader and writers. The students'
attention was also guided to analyze the roles of the different characters and the
relationship to one another, and to identify the main themes of the story, and so on.
Each student read his or her story book and kept the draft notes in any format they
liked. Those notes helped them recall when they started to write
