provide feedback to your students on their achievements. Issues of differentiation
will also be highlighted.
By the end of this Unit you should understand how your observations of a dance
teacher will enhance student learning. You will also have knowledge and
understanding of how to provide effective feedback to students, thus enabling
them to make steady progress. This Unit will introduce the concept of
differentiation which is a key element of effective learning and teaching.
Feedback
Feedback gives information to students about their progress; information that a
student receives as a result of performance or response. By providing guidance
to students during or after an activity you can make a valuable contribution to
their ongoing learning and progress. Feedback should be constructive, helpful
and supportive. Although feedback should aim to be positive, a student should
always know if they are not performing a task correctly.
Effective feedback is dependent upon:
detailed observation by a teacher which draws subject knowledge and an
understanding of the students being taught
sensitive and informed communication with the students
