I want to share some news with you prior to a public announcement that will coincide with our earnings release next Thursday morning in the United States. As we approach the “Walk” stage of our Diebold 2.0 transformation, we are increasingly focused on changing the composition of our business to rely more on recurring services and software. As a result, it’s important that our senior leadership team continues to simplify its decision-making processes and adopt a more distributed leadership model at the senior level – allowing key decisions to be made closer to the customer.
Therefore, we are streamlining our senior leadership team structure and eliminating the position of chief operating officer (COO). As a result, George Mayes, executive vice president and COO, has left the company. George is a very well-respected leader, and he played a major role in helping me establish a strong foundation for Diebold’s future. On behalf of the entire company, I want to thank George for all his contributions. On a personal note, I also want to thank him for his help during my first two years with Diebold and wish him all the best in the next step in his career.
We’ve developed a strong bench of accomplished leaders with relevant experience that gives me confidence we have the right composition to succeed in becoming a more services-led, software-enabled company as we move into the “Walk” phase of our transformation.
Moving forward, Tony Byerly, executive vice president, will continue to lead our electronic security business and report to me. In addition, we are promoting Frank Natoli and Tom Signorello, both of whom will also report to me. Frank, as executive vice president, self-service technology, will continue to lead our global manufacturing, supply chain, product development and product management functions. Tom, as senior vice president and managing director, North America, will assume responsibility for all North America operations, including service. Frank, Tom and Tony have each done an outstanding job, and I look forward to having them on my executive leadership team. Sunil Kumar, vice president of North America service operations, now reports to Tom. Sunil has done a great job in effectively steering our efforts to enhance our service delivery capabilities in North America, and we look forward to his continued leadership.
