The average birth weights of pigs of each crossbreed ranged from
1.82 kg (FL) to 1.99 kg (NL). At the slaughter age, NDL were the heavi-
est (average carcass weight of 86.8 kg), following by FL (carcass
weight of 85.2 kg). The lightest were NL and SH (average carcass
weight of 84.2 and 84.3 kg, respectively). NDL had a lower lean
meat content in carcass (lower Hennessy grade; pb0.05) than the
other crosses (Table 1). Carcass lean meat content was higher in
gilts than in barrows (pb0.001).
