CONSUMPTION OF GREEN TEA AND SERUMLIPID AND LIPOPROTEIN CONCENTRATIONS
Consumption of green tea was significantly associated with lower serum concentrations of lipids and lipoproteins. An increase in consumption substantially decreased serum total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations, and this strong association remained almost unaltered even after age, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and relative body weight were controlled for (table II). The significant reduction of serum total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations found in the group that consumed the most green tea shows that >/= 10 cups a day of green tea consumption is effective in modulating serum lipids.
