For SNSD vs APINK
every girl group is popular in the military (Nine Muses, Rainbow, etc)
The main vocal and face of SNSD are more popular BUT it's the different than APink. SNSD as a whole as huge popularity. Hyoyeon (who is called the least popular SNSD) is more popular than some of APINK's members put together. Why? Because SNSD is the Nation's Girl Group which comes with perks.
after finishing your ending paragraph, it sounded like SNSD was the better group from what you have said.

That's an interesting comparison and there actually are a lot of good points. Among the four groups, I am more famliar with Sistar and, of course, SNSD since I am a SONE. Although I do not agree with either verdict, there are things you pointed out that I agree too.
I still find Sistar better than Girls' Day music-wise, but in terms of establishing solid fanbase, I guess Girls' Day has the potential to overtake Sistar, especially because Girls' Day is still on that stage. Not underestimating Sistar's ability to acquire fans because they have the talent and appeal to do it. The general public is their fanbase, but the public only love their songs. And for them to get that fandom power, those casual listeners have to love the group more than just its music (for me at least). Both are doing good in the current circumstances of Kpop with the oversaturation of idol groups, but I stil think that Sistar has a stronger foothold than Girls' Day.
For the second one, I agree 100% that APink has the strongest potential to be a top tier group in its generation of idols groups. I don't really agree with people calling them "The Next SNSD", not because I belittle APink's potential, but it's so much better if they become "the first APink" rather than "the second this or that".
No one can replicate anyone's level of success, regardless of how high or moderate that success may seem to some people, it is still an achievement. SNSD has made a mark exactly their own, and APink and other girl groups can also leave their own mark and get their own recognition. They don't have to be The Nation's whatever to be considered successful. Sales aren't the only basis of success either. I consider Sistar really successful already in its group career. APink and Girls' Day, on the other hand, are still paving their way towards success and both groups have a lot of potential to be huge in the future.
