Participants
A total of 124 older adults aged 60–90 years (M = 70.0, SD = 6.6, median = 69, mode = 67) participated in this study. All participants reported using the internet at least once a week. The participants had an average of 16.9 (SD = 2.2) years of education, equivalent to nearly a year of graduate study. A majority of the participants were women (71.0%). Participants were recruited from a variety of locations in a mid-sized U.S. Midwestern city and its surround-ing suburbs: senior centers, an email mailing list about educational opportunities for older adults, a series of lectures on positive aging, and a university-organized event for grandparents and their grand-children. Participants were selected based on age and internet-use. No attempts were made to recruit a representative sample of the population. All participants gave consent to participate in the study.
