SEM images of tensile fractured surfaces of untreated and silane
2 treated composites were shown in Fig. 3. The fractured surface of
untreated jute fiber composite exhibited a large number of pull
outs, which is an indication of poor fiber matrix adhesion. It can
also be observed from the Fig. 3a that, no matrix adhered to the
surface of pulled out fiber, indicating the incompatibility between
matrix and fiber. Whereas silane 2 treated composite exhibited a
fiber breakage rather than pull out, this indicates a strong interface
between the fiber and matrix, which in turn results in transfer of
stress between the fiber and the matrix
