CloUD CoMPUtiNg is a service model that offers users
(herein called “tenants”) on-demand network access
to a large shared pool of computing resources (the
cloud). The financial benefits of cloud computing
are widely recognized. Building and managing a
large-scale data center results in savings of a factor
between five and seven over one of medium size in
terms of electricity, hardware, network-bandwidth,
and operational costs.

From the tenant’s perspective,
the ability to use and pay for resources on demand
and the elasticity of the cloud are strong incentives for
migration to the cloud.
