1. Request to access suction tank, elevated tank, or reservoir where water supply is
stored.
2. Assess presence of a sufficient amount of water if possible and safe to observe. If
opening into tank is too high, do not climb.
3. Assess water level gauge for indication of water supply. Note in report if gauge is
unclear about sufficiency of water supply.
4. Request monthly inspection records; and
5. If the facility is connected to a public water supply, request recent water flow test within
the last two years, from the local fire department or a fire safety consultant).
