If it were desired to raise the level national income, this could be done by making the distribution of disposable income (factor income + transfers – taxes) more equal and vice versa if policy demanded a lowering of the level of national income.Many variations can be developed on the theme of disaggregation, and the authors of this volume have chosen to concentrate on the less familiar but equally interesting cases (from the policy point of view) of the disaggregation of government expenditure by type of purchase, and disaggregation of budget transaction by layer of government (see Chapter IV).
