It is located at the Tha Sawang Village, Tambol Ta Sawang, Amphoe Mueang, about 10 kilometers from Surin city along Ke Loi-Mueang Lieng Road. It is a fabric of Pha-Mai-Yok-Thong-Boran (ancient silk weaving with gold threads). The process is to dye very small silk threads (called Mai Noi) and weave them under many ancient designs such as Thep Phanom, Hing Hoi Chomsuan, Kankhod Tenram, Krut Yud Nark. etc. including the famous and beautiful golden brocade silk fabric which is made of pure silver threads being woven with silk threads. It takes very long time for each design (2-3 months) and 1-3 months or year for weaving of each fabric-depend on the design and the number of take or (selection of silk yarns) used for weaving (maximum Takor was 1418)
This weaving project is supported and promoted by the Bureau of the Royal House hold and Her Mafesty the Queen's Foundation. The silk was selected as the fabric to produce shirts for all country leader in the APEC Meeting in the year 2003.
