Carotenoids have
been reported in SI oil in quantities of 0.08 mg /100 g (Hamaker
et al., 1992). Fujisawa et al. (2008) reported in flaxseed enriched
in carotenoids through metabolic engineering, contents within
the range 6.54–15.6 mg/100 g, which corresponded to 7.8- to
18.6-fold increase, compared with those of the untransformed controls.
