owner-operator positions in the Chinese hotel industry. Of the257,
20 were owner operators, 67 were General Managers (GMs), 67
were Branch, Divisional or Department Managers, 31 were Direc_
tors while the remainder held a series of other senior managementpositions. With reference to gender, 9g were female. The nature
of the properties can be gauged by the turnover of the properties
for which they were responsible. Just 32 properties had an innual
turnover of less than 100,000 RMB, and of these 12 were owner_
operator hotels.
