A little white lie
The American heritage dictionary defines a little white lie as an “unimportant lie, often trivial, diplomatic or well-intentioned untruth.” Who had never told a white lie?
imagine the following situations. A friend of yours paints as a hobby, but he has no talent. On your birthday, he gives you one of his paintings as a present. You open the package, pretend you are impressed, and say, “it’s very nice isn’t it? Thank you so much.” You don’t want to hurt hit feelings but at the same time you are thinking: “what am I going to do with it? Where am I going to put it?” if a friend asks you, “how do I look in my new dress? If looks good, doesn’t it?,” you can’t be honest. You don’t say, “you really need to take that off and find something else.” You can’t give your real opinion because your friend is very sensitive
