There were no significant differences in the baseline characteristics
of the patients except that hypertension was more common among
patients in the AAD than in the other groups (Table 1). Before randomization the interval between the AF episodes was less than 7 days in more
than 50% of the patients in all study groups (P = 0.49 for differences
between the groups). In the RFA, AAD and crossover group the duration
of the AF episodes were less than 24 h in 86%, 91% and 93% of the
patients, respectively (P = 0.57) (Table 2)
