Thus, on the one hand, the theoretical framework of this
paper is based on literature about information technologies, in
general, and information technologies in education, especially,
in higher education. On the other hand, the empirical
framework reflects the practices in this field in the Polytechnic
Institute of Guarda (hereinafter IPG, Portugal). The structure of
the paper is organized as follows. Section 2 gives an overview
of the e-learning platforms in the HEIs context. Section 3
discusses the implementation of Information and
Communication Technology tools on the IPG. Finally, the
section 4 presents the conclusions and makes some
recommendations.
