Methodology
The state of each cell in the CA model is a function of the
states of the neighbourhood cells. In this study, aMoore neighbourhood
consisting of the eight adjacent cells is considered
(Fig. 1(a)). The state of each cell at time t is defined by the
proportion of the cell burning (ratio of the burning area to
the total cell area). Hence, the state of a cell ranges from
0 (unburned) to 1 (completely burned) along a continuous
scale.
